Playing the role of Sandra was my first ever theatre experience. This was a very physically demanding role in which I was thrown through a window, knocked out by several doors, was carried around stage while inside a clock, and had to wrestle and fight my co-star. Throughout this show I learned so much about theatre life including terminology, acting techniques, and a lot about the technical side of putting on a production. I even had to learn make-up techniques! I absolutely loved this show and the family I gained because of it!
This was the first musical production I was ever a part of. My character, Rachel, was very similar to my own personality, which made the role easier in some ways, but more difficult in others. This show gave me an opportunity to show off my voice which I was thrilled about. Throughout the production of this show, I was also competing in track and field. Even though the time commitments were difficult to manage, I still chose to perform in this show because of my passion and love for theatre!
I adore this show. This was my first "experienced" show, so I knew the ropes and had much more fun with it! I played the role of the Baker's Wife. This character goes through a lot during this show while travelling through the woods including witches, giants, princes, and babies. I was very emotionally invested in this character and had such a blast playing her. Into The Woods is also a musical so I did get to sing again! However, this music was a whole lot different and way less laid back than Escape to Margaritaville. I loved being a part of this show and would absolutely do it all again!
This year I performed a Senior Scholarship piece and a Group Musical piece and received Superiors in both! The feedback from the judges of the Senior Scholarship piece was positive and helpful and better prepared me for an audition process. Our Group Musical piece was runner up for Best in Show and was just one point away from a perfect score!
The week out troupe spent in Tampa was nothing short of amazing! I got to see so many outstanding performances. I learned everything from channeling my inner emotions to choreography to acro skills and more at the workshops! This was an incredible experience that brought me closer to my friends and the theatre community as a whole. I am looking forward to attending again this year!
